BIOGRAFIA

Alba Dalmau (Cardedeu, 1987). Llicenciada en Comunicació Audiovisual i màster en Creació Literària per la UPF. El 2011 publica la seva primera novel·la Vonlenska, Premi Recvll. També és coautora de tres llibres d’artista que combinen literatura i fotografia: On només hi havia un far, Estrena i CU(B)A. Va viure a Nova York, on va escriure la novel·la Bategant (Cossetània 2015), Premi Vila de l’Ametlla de Mar 2015, i el recull de contes Estàndards (Angle 2017), XXVIII Premi Literari Vila d’Ascó. El 2019 va publicar El camí dels esbarzers (Angle), novel·la molt ben rebuda per la crítica i amb diverses edicions, i el 2020 s’ha estrenat en literatura infantil amb Capgirat (Bindi Books), un àlbum il·lustrat per Cinta Vidal. Actualment és professora d’escriptura creativa al Laboratori de Lletres de Barcelona

Sandville. A typical town in the heart of the United States, where inhabitants lead a simple, apparently peaceful existence. Apparently, because beneath the surface lie bursts of anger and heartache, of despair and camaraderie, of betrayal and connection, of life and death. There are sparks that illuminate entire lifetimes. There are voids that swallow them whole. There are chills that freeze them in time. The path of the bramble bushes has the soul of a novel. We encounter the same characters throughout: the timid child we first met in school evolves into the enamoured one, entangled with an unattainable girl, and finally becomes the arsonist setting fire to the wheat fields.

Through each narrative, the lives of Sandville's inhabitants are interwoven, torn asunder, stitched back together, and patched up. Despite the geographical distance, we feel them so close because this very distance highlights the clarity that their emotions mirror our own, and their everyday experiences closely resemble our own, allowing us to recognize ourselves in every subtle gesture, in every emotion.
